My Very First Public Journal

My Very First Public Journal

Hello friends!

In case you're new to my blog, this journal was written in the middle of Covid-19 pandemic where I had been spending at least 10 hours of my entire day sitting in front of my computer for these past 2 years. So I thought, why not doing something I used to love but not having the time to due to daily hustles among other things, and that is writing.

Why writing?

I don't think I need to go through each and every details of benefits one could possibly harness by writing. But for me, it is closely related to my introverted personality.

Malcolm Gladwell mentioned in one of his book, The Tipping Point, that some people are gifted with the ability to bring the world together or to make social connections. What comes to mind when we're talking about these types of people are those who are chatty and extremely outgoing, while in fact, it's not always the case. Take Craig Newmark for example, an ex-IBM system engineer who happened to be an introvert that found Craiglist, one of the biggest English language website in the world. With a proper tool and medium, everyone, even the most introverted person could engage people on so many personal levels, just like Craiglist that has helped connecting people and drove community in making an impact to other people's lives.

From the book Quiet by one my favorite authors, Susan Cain, I learn that being an introvert doesn't hinder you from making yourself seen or heard despite the extroverted world that we live in nowadays. In one of the chapter, Susan explained that social media has made new forms of leadership possible for scores of people who don't fit the "standards". And by "standards", she refers to the myth of charismatic leadership set by people in Harvard Business School and alike.

As one of mainstream social media platform, blog post allows me to put out my ideas publicly for people to connect and hopefully, relate based on their interest in the topics or simply curiosity. On the long run, I want to attract and engage more people to share their thoughts, experiences, and insights about numerous issues of our modern society.

So, what's next?

Writing is actually not new to me. During college, I made reasonable amount of publications, be it documentary, journalistic, or scientific ones. However, I haven't really made enough effort in maintaining the habit of writing until recently.

Apart from this public journal, I am also planning to make some kind of book summary or review that I would like to recommend to people. Whatever it might be, the plan is to get myself a platform to exercise my writing skills and to document stuff that matters to me.

I am so excited for that and looking forward for more type of content in the future. Until then, that's it for now and I wish you all safe and healthy!
